My name is Alicia and I'm an alcoholic.

So I have to be honest, when they asked me to do this panel, I mean I obviously fit the

qualifications because I am a parent but there was a part in the back of my head that felt

like I am the least qualified to speak about this subject and it's set in motion, a train

of thinking for me that really kind of led me to realize that all I have to share with

you is my own experience and being honest with you.

The more I thought about it, that gut inclination that I'm not qualified, the more I started

reaching out to other parents in sobriety and asking them if they have the same feelings

that I live with constantly.

For me, I have a sobriety date, it's February 25, 2007 and I know for myself one of the strongest

motivating factors for me to get loaded was when I felt like I wasn't living in line

with my truth when I was feeling guilty because I wasn't living at my highest self.

One of the things of being a parent, whether you're an alcoholic or not because the topic

is parenting and why, Pa, is that it comes with a tremendous amount of guilt and I think

many, many parents, no matter what you're doing, no matter how much time you're spending,
