I'm Trey Orndorf, a political scientist at Oklahoma Christian University.

And today I'm joined by a really amazing guest and author, Dr. Tyler Evans.

He is an experienced and passionate infectious disease and public health expert who has been on the front lines of major disease outbreaks around the globe.

And not just here in the United States, but elsewhere,

including in Africa, South Asia and the Middle East, and included working with many organizations such as Doctors Without Borders and Partners in Health. And today on the politics, guys,

we're going to be discussing his book, Pandemics, Poverty, and Politics,

decoding the social and political drivers of pandemics from plagues to COVID-19.

And it has just come out this month, and that is August.

And, Tyler, I have to say that your book wasn't just well written, but for me personally,

it was

actually at a perfect time because as I was reading it here at the beginning or the end of the

summer, rather, I am actually leading conversations here at OC about our own health care systems

as our faculty association president.

And so it all came together for this and for the show.
