Michael is in Panama City, part of the Canal Zone once upon a time,

now a sovereign country that is struggling with the migrants through the Darien

Gap, with the collapse of the revenue from a copper mine and with

So Michael's been observing the Panama Canal troubles for weeks. Right now

there is a new report that Merck, one of the major shippers. Merck has been in the news because of the Huthies and the Red Sea.

Merrisk is now using a rail route across the Isthmus. That is the ships come in on the eastern or western side transfer their containers to a rail train that rolls across the isthmus and then loaded back on another ship on the other side or the same ship that has come through
