Palisades 2025 Fire Tragedy: Root System Failure and Department Negligence Alleged

Jeff Bliss explained that the January 2025 Palisades fire tragedy resulted from initial errors made between January 1st and 7th. The fire allegedly traveled through a large, unburned root system underground. The LA Fire Department suppressed the fire but left, failing to dig and ensure the root system was extinguished or to monitor the site, enabling the blaze to emerge and take off on January 7th

This is John Batchel, speaking to colleague Jeff Bliss, Pacific Watch, about the fire of the

Palisades, January of 2025, and the fire company that was called for the original fire on

0:13.2

the 1st of January. And what they did and did not do that made the tragedy much more likely and, in fact, eventually wiped out the whole

neighborhood up and down the coast. Nothing happening since then except for blame shifting

and despair. The initial errors were made between January 1st and January 7th, according to this report.

Here's Jeff to explain.

What that story tells us is that, and this has been the explanation since these videos were discovered,

0:48.4

is that the root system of these plants did not burn with the initial fire.

0:55.4

What happened was is the fire traveled down through this root system, a rather large root

0:59.7

system in that area, and continued to burn.

1:03.8

And then it emerged through the other plants around the area that hadn't been scorched

1:09.6

and set off the fire, which we all know took

1:12.0

off on the 7th of January. And so what it shows us is, you know, that allegedly the L.A.

1:19.1

County or L.A. Fire Department do not really put down the fire. They, you know, they suppressed it,

1:25.0

as they say. But then they left. They said, oh, the fire's out.

1:29.2

Okay, we can go back to the station house. Yet nobody took the time to dig and find out if it was

1:35.1

burning through the root system or to put somebody there to mind it as they've talked about,

1:40.1

you know, babysit it.
