I felt like something was wrong with me.

I was sitting around confessing sins all day long trying to feel better, trying to feel

closer to God and feel like, okay, maybe if I did something to push him away, you know,

I could fix it, which is so not the gospel.

God's story has been unfolding.

Since the beginning of time.

He invites you to be a part of it.

Hi, this is Meredith Foster.

For so long, there's been a stigma around issues of mental health,

including among believers in Jesus.

For many of us, we assume depression and anxiety are issues we can fix if we're just more spiritual. Lydia Laird knew God was calling her to write and perform

music about her faith, but she was struggling with depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.

For years, she carried shame because she couldn't fix it.

So I grew up in an incredible home. I'm one of 10 kids, which I like to start off with,

because that just seems so weird, so many people. I grew up in a homeschool family.

When I was a kid, we were missionaries overseas in Romania for a couple of years and I just grew up

constantly around Jesus around ministry around you know a peaceful home and the last thing in the

world you would think I would have struggled with was my mental health you know I think a lot of

times when people struggle with depression or anxiety or something like that, we assume they've gone through something
