When we feel empty, we start reaching for things to fill the void.

For Daniel Goulet, emptiness became his constant companion, an ache that would not leave.

He experimented with ways to fill it, drinking, drugs, pornography, but those left him ashamed and addicted.

He was spiraling into despair, and there seemed to be no way to stop it.

Would you describe yourself as a person of faith growing up?

Yeah, so our family is kind of, I don't even know if I would say nominal Christians. Like there was a

time that we went to church, a very traditional background, Catholic. So there was like a Sunday

thing for a little while. And then there was a time that my mom got connected with

these Baptists. And she started going to that church. It actually created a lot of tension in the
