Hi. Hi, this is Meredith Foster. In the blink of an eye, life can change. A lightning strike lasts only a fraction of a second, but that was long enough to change John Reimer's life. Your chance of being struck by lightning this year, it's something like

one in 500,000. To be the victim of such a rare and catastrophic event would cause many people to live in

fear. What random, terrible thing could happen next? How could such an unusual accident leave someone

feeling fearless and full of peace?

If someone had told me that one day I'd be struck by lightning, I would have never believed it.

According to documented statistics, I guess there's about 300 people to 600 people in the United States that are struck by lightning every year. But I always thought of it

in terms of maybe striking a barn or some big tower somewhere, but never, never me. But it happened.

And it happened 2004. My son, Josh, and I were walking on the trail at Lake Zirinsky.

It's a very popular lake. It's about four miles around. And we were just having a great time

and joining one another's company when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, we were hit by a bolt

of lightning. Actually, I was hit by a bolt of lightning.

Actually, I was hit and Josh, my son, got the repercussions of it.
