The word surrender can have negative connotations.

It means giving up, letting go of something you wanted.

Surrender has been one of the themes of Hope Darst's life. She's a songwriter and

worship leader known for powerful anthems like Peace Be Still. Throughout Hope's life, God has asked

her to surrender a lot, giving up her dream to be a recording artist, letting go over

hopes to become a mother. Surrender has not been easy, and it's never come with any

kind of guarantee outside of knowing that with each thing surrendered, Jesus has been faithful.

How far back do you remember, like, thinking what your family was going to look like and having

kids, you know, what did you imagine that was going to be like when you were growing up?

I thought such a great question. I think for so long, I didn't imagine a family.

Huh. I had such tunnel vision when I was younger to be a famous recording artist.

That's all my vision was, honestly. Like I kind of, I think somewhere in my mind figured I would

get married at some point because I was really obsessed for falling in love, which is another story
