And the NFL draft is unfolding in New York.

A young quarterback from Chico, California, sits in the green room, waiting.

His name, Aaron Rogers.

Born December 2nd, 1983, Aaron had dazzled at the University of California, Berkeley.

In his junior year, he threw for 2,320 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions, completing 67.5% of his passes. Against USC,

he tied an NCAA record with 23 consecutive completions. Everyone thought he'd be a top

pick, maybe even the first overall, by his childhood team, the San Francisco 49ers but the 49ers chose

Alex Smith from Utah team after team passed on Rogers the cameras lingered as he sat a

21 year old whose confidence was tested 23 picks went by and Aaron was still waiting

for the Green Bay Packers with the the 24th pick, it was an easy choice.

General Manager Ted Thompson, in his first year, saw a chance to plan for the future.
