Hello, Hi, Sam here stopping by the feed to tell you about a brand new project just

released today that I was so honored to be a part of. It is a podcast series called Pack One Bag and it is

exactly the sort of story that we often tell on family ghosts.

It's about a documentarian named David

who grows up with a fairy tale version of his grandparents

daring escape from fascist Italy.

And then as an adult, David discovers that this fairy tale

was only part of the story,

and that in fact there were some darker elements to the story that he realizes it's time that he finally explored.

And this revelation sends him across the ocean back to Italy looking for answers to some disturbing questions like

why are there friendly letters from Benito Mussolini sent to David's great grandfather.

What happened to the family members who didn't make it out of the country and were instead

forced to flee their homes so that they weren't captured by Nazis.

What responsibility does David have to his family's past and to its future?

It is an epic story of love, longing, separation,

redemption, and the malleability of historical memory. And it just so happens to feature the voice talents of Stanley

Tucci really. I worked closely with David for over two years as the story editor on Pac One Bag.

And it was produced in collaboration with the good people at Gilded Audio,

with whom we made the Family Ghosts episode the Faith Exam, which I know many of you loved very much.
