Now we have less than good news, and it's a difficult story. The Fires of L.A. There is a hero emerging, however.

His name is Rick Caruso. I recall him from a recent mayoral election, a year past or so. He converted from the Republican

part of the Democratic Party and had a lot of practical suggestions about the homeless. He lost.

However, now he's back and he's making announcements about the fires of L.A.

And he starts with making an announcement today that I need an interpretation.

Jeff,

uh,

Mr. Caruso is saying the,

the National Guard are leaving.

What does that mean?

That's right.

Well, Karen Bass,

the mayor of L.A.,

who's been falling out of favor faster than you can say,

you know, boo, has decided to pull the National Guard from the areas around Pacific Palisades.

And I think also maybe the Eaton fire area, but certainly around the Palisades, which is what

Caruso's, you know, he's part of that community,

and so he's very upset about it. But the residents there are up in arms. I saw a number of posts

this morning where people said, you can't do that. This is going to be open season on us. So what

Caruso said is pulling the National Guard this soon is just insane. Why did Bass order the guard to be removed?

The area is full of hazards. And the lucky few who still have homes are left unprotected.
