| 0:22.9 | Now, colesistitis is simply inflammation of the gallbladder. |
| 0:26.5 | That's all it is, right? |
| 0:27.5 | We have an inflamed gallbladder. |
| 0:29.3 | Now usually, this is gonna be a result from gallstones and complete obstruction of |
| 0:33.8 | the cystic duct. This in itself is going to cause inflammation of the gallbladder. |
| 0:37.9 | Patients are going to present pretty classically. You're going to have right up a |
| 0:41.5 | quadrant pain with or without fever. |
| 0:43.0 | And they may or may not have some nausea, some vomiting associated with it, but really the main thing is going to be right |
| 0:48.9 | up a quadrant pain. Now when you're actually doing a physical exam you're going to look for something called a Murphy sign. |
| 0:56.0 | And Murphy sign is not simply pain when you palpate the right upper quadrant. |
| 1:00.0 | A lot of people think it's simply having a little bit of pain or having severe pain when you |
| 1:04.4 | palpate that right upper quadrant, right? |
| 1:06.4 | And that right of a quadrant is right where your liver and the gallbladder reside. |
| 1:11.8 | But no, Murphy sign, you're going to have the patient lay down, |
| 1:15.3 | you're going to start palpating that right up a quadrant and you're going to have |
| 1:18.9 | them take a deep breath in. Now if they actually stop breathing because of the pain that's a positive Murphy sign. |
| 1:25.0 | So cessation of inspiration is needed to deem this a positive Murphy sign. |
