| 0:39.1 | that out. All right, so let's get started with Cushing's disease or syndrome. |
| 0:45.0 | The first thing you need to know is the difference. |
| 0:47.0 | So we have Cushing's Disease and we also have Cushing's Syndrome. |
| 0:51.0 | Now they both have an elevated cortisol level. The difference here is that disease |
| 0:55.9 | will be derived from the pituitary. And syndrome simply means any elevated cortisol level |
| 1:01.8 | from an ectopic source. So you need to differentiate the two |
| 1:06.2 | because treatment will vary considerably. Another way to look at this is also that cortisol level might be independent of a c. |
| 1:15.0 | Or dependent on a c. |
| 1:18.0 | So to quickly review, Cushing's disease equals pituitary problem. Cushing's syndrome means other possibilities of elevated |
| 1:27.7 | cortisol levels. |
| 1:29.7 | A really quick side note for you guys. |
| 1:32.1 | So the Hypothelamus will secrete corticotropin releasing |
| 1:35.4 | hormone, also called CRH. This is going to send a signal down to the pituitary to release A.C.T.H. |
