Hey, I wonder, do you know the phrase, loser's limp?

Have you ever heard someone use that that, oh, we've got a case of loser's limp here?

Well, it comes from the athletic realm.

It's meant to describe a situation in which a person makes up an excuse suddenly for

the reason that they are losing in a race or in a game.

They'll say, all the sun was in my eyes or, oh, I pulled a muscle and that's actually

where the literal phrase, loser's limp comes from.

It's like he doesn't really have an injury, but he's acting like it so that his defeat

is not as big of a deal, another's, you know, kind of give him latitude and an excuse

for why he really lost.

Well, friends, loser's limp is something that's not only deceitful.

It's something that really gains us nothing in the end.

Let's look at Proverbs 22, 13.

It says, the sluggard says, there's a lion outside.

I shall be killed in the streets.

Now it's true that in the area of Judea where this proverb was originally written and

distributed, there were lions that lived in that region, but the expectation that a lion

would be right inside the town or right inside the city was ridiculous.

A sluggard, a lazy person might say, as an excuse, there's a lion outside.

I'm afraid to go outside.
