I'm John Batch, so this is the Friends of History Debating Society.

I am speaking with my good colleague and friend, Jeremy Zackas.

He's in New South Wales, and it is the end of winter.

Australia is the southern latitudes, and winter time is R in the northern latitudes, summer

time.

It's exactly reversed, except Jeremy and Australia have a couple of seasons we don't have.

For example, we're about to enter snake season.

Snake season comes in the spring.

It's also Koala season, it's also a marsupial season.

A lot of mating going on.

But snakes are unusual in that many of them are trying to kill you.

So when they come out from their winter habitats, if they've ever been in their winter habitats

given the strange weather, they do unusual things.

Jeremy introduces to Mo and Curly these two pythons, making their bid to be members of the

World Wrestling Federation.

What am I looking at?

Well, John, while you're looking at there is actually something that few people really

know that snakes actually do.

And when I say few people, really people who don't grow up around snakes, and what you're

looking at there, John, is an epic struggle for basically a mate.

So there's two pythons there on a beach in the sunshine coast in Queensland.

And where they are is about 50 miles north of Brisbane.
