This is the Friends of History Debating Society. I'm John Batson, a student of Jeremy Zackis learning

cricket. I thought it was about rules. No, no, no, no. It's about trash talking. It's about

attitude. It's about incidents that happened maybe a year ago, maybe 50 years ago, maybe 150 years ago,

being recreated at every moment in front of a very large, engaged crowd that chats about what happened all week long and then goes back.

Cricket. Baseball doesn't generate this amount of talk, nor does baseball do something

that's quite striking.

David Warner is one of the premier players for Australia, which was world champions last summer.

There are different matches. There's the T20, which is a faster game. There's the five-day test.

And right now, David Warner is going over to the English team to play T20 in a test series.

How is this possible, David, that David Warner would leave the Australia team.

Why is he doing this, Jeremy?

Well, John, it's interesting in itself, and it's not unheard of.

And the simple answer is he's going to really, I guess, expand his skill set.

So he's going to play with another cricket team to effectively learn some new skills

and hopefully bring it back to the Australian team to help us defeat, you know,

the English, funnily enough, sometime in the future.

But the reality is, John, I think if you look at it a little bit more conspiratorial, maybe, or a little bit more strategically, you could say

that these kind of exchanges are actually a good way to overtly get somebody from your own team

into the enemies camp effectively to learn their skills, to learn how they think, to learn how they

play with the intention of then bringing it

back and using it against them. And I think David Warner, he's a fantastic player, and I know

that the British are actually trying to get him in there to bring up their T20 leagues. He's
