Summary

Matt Bach was in the best shape of his life in 2015, winning IM Maryland, finishing 74th overall at Kona, and about to turn pro. But crushing fatigue, sudden weight gain, and a missing libido made him start to realize something was very wrong. He wrote his symptoms off for a while until he couldn't ignore them anymore. On the podcast this week, we talk about how Matt accidentally became overtrained, how his missing libido was the biggest clue, how blood tests were key to his recovery.

the issues that I've got with weight gain that I'm like bigger than I've been in probably nine years. Matt actually reached out and he said, you know what, I've been through

something similar. And I didn't know this. And he back in 2015 was on the path to becoming a pro triathlete,

1:22.5

did really, really well in Kona as you'll hear, and then started suffering from overtraining.

And we wanted to have Matt on the podcast because 2,500 comments later from all of you stepping

up supporting me, thank you all very, very much for that, we realize how little it's talked

1:40.2

about that when people start struggling with weight or motivation or whatever it is,

1:44.8

they just don't post about it online and they just go away. And by default, almost, all we hear

1:51.7

about online is how people are crushing it. In fact of the matter is that thousands and thousands

1:57.1

of people out there aren't crushing it and are struggling. And Matt wanted to share that

2:02.1

with me one-on-one. And we started talking about this last week. And I said, you know what? I think

2:07.2

it's critical that we share this with everyone and put this on a podcast. Hence, here's Matt Bach.
