Summary

Today I talk all about receiving negativity being a social media influencer. It can also be translated to receiving any kind of negativity, even if its not through social media. I talk about growing up and getting negative comments starting at 15 years old and how it would affect me then, versus how I deal with it now. I've gained a lot of confidence and a thick skin from negative comments, so in a way I'm grateful for them. I also talk about how I've noticed at times with an overwhelming negative response, it can come with grains of truth. And that they're times of good learning experiences and reflection. Hey everyone and welcome to this week's episode of Half-Hour brought to you by yours truly,

0:06.0

your host Gretchen Gerdy. Can anyone else not believe that it is literally the end of April right

0:11.3

now? Like today, this day, it's going up is Friday, April 24th. Like that is just so crazy to me,

0:18.8

where have the past two months gone? Where has all of 2020 gone so far? Like it's about to be May,

0:26.4

which is the fifth month of the year. So I'm just like stating the facts right now but I honestly

0:30.9

can't wrap my head around it. Like time is just flying by with like no real things to mark the time

0:38.0

passing anymore I feel like, since we're all pretty much stuck inside. It's just like a really weird

0:43.4

time. I know we all know like a weird concept, right? But anywho, today's episode is all about

0:50.2

overcoming negativity as an influencer. Ooh, a little deep. But I'm really feeling in the mood to

0:56.3

just be so real with you guys today and honest and you guys know I always am in my podcast.

1:02.2

That's just who I am. It's a person very open, very real and I was looking through my master list

1:09.7

of podcast ideas for this week. I have so many ideas and so many that I want to make, like probably

1:15.2

hundreds and I'm getting and I looked at this one and I was like, hmm, negative. Like I

1:20.5

love a really one stock button negativity. But specifically like I guess hate that you get as an

1:24.9

influencer or yeah, just negativity that you experience being an influencer over time for me.

1:31.7

The time has been eight years that I've been on YouTube. So yeah, I've experienced I guess a lot

1:38.4

of negativity in my day just because I've been on YouTube for so long or just like different periods

1:43.6

that I could pinpoint out to where I maybe would get like overwhelming negative feedback.

1:49.6

And it's just kind of interesting to talk about and talk about how I deal with it, how I feel like

1:54.5

it's changed me, how I've like I said dealt with it, how I don't know it's I feel like I'm just

2:01.2

reading it in a way. Is that how it's changed me like in my personal life. And yeah, just kind of

2:09.0

discuss it. How I think there honestly is like a time and place for it. And hope with this podcast
