The easiest thing to sell in this world is fear.

Fear and guilt and shame.

Those things are trafficked all across the world, and they're closely linked to control.

In fact, there are non-religious

systems that traffic and fear and control and oppression, and there are even Christian

systems that are almost totally driven by a sense of fear, shame, and control. Here is some

really good news for those who have encountered or even lived under fear-based religion.

The gospel of Jesus Christ frees you from such a system.

In what we cover today on grace and truth, I want to talk to you about fear-based religion,

and I want to do so from an expressly Christian angle.

I want to do so saying, furthermore, up front, that you can be a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ

and be genuinely saved and know the Lord and wanting to walk with God,

and yet still be operating in some form of a fear-based

system. So being in a fear-based church or in a fear-based organization or beyond the church

in some kind of fear-based context does not necessarily mean that there is no truth that you're

going to hear and no ability to glorify God. But what is going to happen in such a context is there is a great deal of what God has in store for you that you are not sadly going to experience.

And so my prayer in mapping what fear-based religion is and responding to it in what follows is that you will be free to experience the grace and joy and hope and

gladness that is in Jesus Christ.
