Today I want to share with you an experience that I had early in my life that led me to

At the age of five, I had a speech pathologist diagnosed me with catastrophic speech problems. He also said that I had no hope of overcoming them.

My mother didn't believe in that prognosis, and she didn't allow me to believe in it either,

which on its own was life-changing. Then, when I was going into high school, I decided to take a

speech class because I was terrified of speaking in public.

Not really that surprising for someone with speech problems. My teacher was Mr. Jordan, who just

happened to also be the coach for the speech and debate team. The day came for me to give my

speech, my first speech, and it was terrible.
