Britain has banned American left-wing commentators Hassan Piker and Chen Huger from entering the country

because of their opposition to Israel's genocide. And indeed, a genocide which is armed and

facilitated by the British government and which continues to be armed and facilitated by the British

government. Now, the Home Office has banned them on grounds that their presence in Britain is not conducive to the public good.

Orwellian stuff.

This is just the latest example of what is the largest assault on free speech since the 1950s,

since the heyday of McCarthyism, when Senator Joseph McCarthy sat in the chair of the House of Un-American Activities

and this constant witch-hunt, relentless witch-hunt against the Reds,

well now the witch-hunt is against anybody who opposes Israel's genocide,

its apartheid, its occupation, its crimes,

anyone who believes in the innate equal humanity of the Palestinian people.

Now, both these commentators were supposed to speak at a South by Southwest event in London,

this conglomeration of film, interacted media, music festivals,

Cheng Guga was due to speak at the Oxford Union.

Now, we need to talk about this because it is deeply disturbing and indicative of where

we are heading.

And that is towards naked, unabashed, loud and proud, outright authoritarianism.

Now, successive governments, both New Labour and Conservative, have introduced anti-protest laws.

They've crippled the right to protest in this country.

You can ban protest now to too noisy.

And protests against Israel's genocide have been construed as hateful and extreme and racist and all the rest of it

because they, what, oppose the mass extermination of the Palestinian people.
