I just found out like an old family friend of ours, a woman who was tight with my mom and who is now living in the same

sort of community as her has a lifelong policy of no nicknames. Oh wow. If your

name is Melissa you will be called Melissa not Missy. If your name is James you're James you're not James. is

It's a family policy and she's very strict about it and I think that's the weirdest

goddamn thing I've ever heard in my life.

So she's been running around calling you David behind your back. I guess she has. I guess she had or maybe it's in my face or whatever but I don't yeah I just never really thought about it but that's you have to be able to have a nickname right? You must. Well you know this is a perfect segue because our guest today has a

fantastic name I'm very curious if it is a nickname or if it's not if there is

another nickname.

But she is the founder of a nonprofit called Miri's List,

which is an incredible organization that helps refugees from the Middle East and now Ukraine.

She's also a co-author of a children's book called Our World is a Family with my friend

Jennifer Lee Jackson and her name, we'll find out if this short for something or not is

Mary White Hill.
