What's going on, guys? Question number 20 this week. It's week 20, and the question is,

who is the Redeemer? And I know you know who the Redeemer is, the one who redeems us and

reconciles us back to God, but what do we know about Him? We know his name is Jesus. Jesus means

God is salvation. And the answer here says, the only Redeemer is the Lord Jesus Christ,

the eternal son of God in whom God became man and bore the penalty for our sin. So Jesus is

100% God, 100% man. He bore the penalty for our sins. That's called the hypostatic union. He's 200% God, 100% man.

And I like what the verse that they give in the New City Catechism, which I'm not in partnership with them, but they have a really cool app. Make sure you download it.

They have a book as well. And there's 52 questions for 52 weeks of the year.

And so we're doing one every week this year to help us grow closer to God in our faith.

They give the verse 1 Timothy 2,5.

And it says, there is one God and there is one mediator between God and men, the man, Christ Jesus.

There is one God. Our God, three in one. We talked about this, like,

in the first couple of weeks of the Catechism study. And God the Son, who is one with God

the Father, one with God, the Spirit. He is our mediator between God and men. The bridge, the mediator. A mediator is somebody, two people

were having a fight. They come in, say, we can't get to the bottom of this fight. And so we need

a mediator to guide the conversation. Well, Jesus did that, but way more, eternally more. Because only we

were in the wrong, God was in the right. God deserved to punish us because of our sins. But what

Jesus does is he mediates. He comes in between us and God and says, Father, you can forgive them

because of what I'm doing on the cross. Because me taking the just punishment that you must give towards sin because you're holy,

now I'm taking that for them.

He is the mediator between us and God.

And he still is that mediator.
