Welcome back my friends we are digging into Jesus today that's what we've been doing these

last few episodes is just digging into the truth of who our Savior is. We're taking a quick side

trip from John, chapters 14, 15, and 16 to look more closely at something John brought up for us or actually Jesus himself

brought up in his teaching and that is that he is the central theme of everything that God is doing. We jumped over to

Cola Shoshaon's one because the apostle Paul goes into much greater

detail and depth about that subject. And so that's where we are right now.

We're in Closhae in chapter 1. Verse number 18 if you want to open up your

Bible and follow along as I read. Verse 18 says and he Jesus is the head of the

body the church and we spoke about that yesterday.

But continuing he says he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,

that in everything he might be preeminent.

Now let's stop there for a moment and make sure we understand the details of what

the apostle Paul is telling us here.

He's the head of the body of the church.

We talked about that yesterday, so if you have any questions or

curiosities about that, go back to yesterday's episode and listen there. But he says he is the

beginning. So Jesus himself represents the beginning of all of history, of all of the created order and it says he is the first born from the dead.

Now remember back in verse 15 when we introduced or we were introduced rather to this concept of the first born

Remember it's a concept of supremacy and authority not a concept of chronology or when something happened, it's a concept of authority.

And so when it says he is the first born from the dead,

what that means is he is the one who has authority

over death.
