Well, you know, first, I love the topic of your book because, you know,

I went to graduate school back in the 1980s. I didn't do old English. I did, I ended up doing

American literature. So I never really thought that I would be studying in that area. But one requirement of the graduate

school there in the 80s, this was UCLA, was two courses in philology, starting with Old English.

And I, again, I went into 19th century literature, but I deeply appreciate having done it.

I mean, that requirement had had us going into the grammar and some of the vocabulary of old and middle English.
