Hello everyone. Welcome back to the podcast. Today I have some feedback from a reader, David, and also a question from that same reader. So he said, on your recent show about soil aeration, you mentioned that soil of a uniform texture will

0:15.6

have poor drainage and aeration, and you encouraged incorporation of organic matter and particles

0:20.4

of different sizes and shapes, while a clay soil with uniform texture will have

0:24.8

poor drainage and adding organic matter will help, a sandy soil also has very uniform texture

0:31.3

but has great drainage generation. So the

0:33.7

uniformity is neutral depending on particle size. You might want to point

0:37.3

that out to listeners as others may have been confused. That is a wonderful

0:41.4

piece of feedback and 100% true.

0:44.4

So in my episode on soil aeration,

0:46.7

what I was getting at is that one factor

0:50.5

in the aeration of soil can be the uniformity of the particles in that soil.

0:56.4

However, it is not the only factor, as David mentioned if you are growing in, let's say,

1:02.1

100% sand, while the particles of sand are all very similar

1:06.7

in shape, however, again, like he said, excellent drainage and pretty good aeration as well.

1:13.0

And so that is not the only factor that determines how well draining or well aerated your

1:18.7

soil might be.

1:20.1

And so now let's get to David's question.

1:22.9

He says, I run a micro farm in Northern California.

1:26.4

What suggestions do you have for Oxalice Control?

1:29.2

My farm is CCOF certified, so O. F. certified, so O M. R. I. I. Approved suggestions are appreciated.

1:37.0

Well, I'll see what I can do, although I am not an organic certified grower or farmer, I'll see what I can do to give you some suggestions.

1:47.0

And again, I have yet to run a micro farm.
