Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout podcast, Kelly here. And today we're going to talk about opting out of scarcity. You've probably heard

0:21.5

scarcity mentioned that word several times in different contexts. Definitely in relation to

0:28.2

growth mindset or abundance, you'll hear that the opposite of those things is a scarcity mindset.

0:34.4

It's kind of the killer of abundance in your life. And I thought today we could talk a

0:39.7

little bit about what scarcity does, how it impacts us, and how we can actually effectively opt

0:45.8

out of scarcity. I'm particularly called to do this episode because, as I told you earlier,

0:51.5

this year for me is about abundance. It's about abundance and joy and believing

0:58.2

the kind of anthem affirmation that I say to myself and have said on this podcast that there is

1:04.8

more and more and still more for both myself and for you. But in order to get to that place, I had to overcome a lot of scarcity mindset.

1:16.7

A lot of feelings that come when you're in a space of scarcity.

I had to let that go to be able to even believe those words that I said to you my affirmation

1:26.2

for the year, my anthem. So what exactly is

scarcity or a scarcity mindset? It really is this belief in less that there's only a little bit,

1:37.0

that this moment is all you have, that there will never be another person or place or opportunity.

1:46.0

It's this belief that there's a finite amount of a thing or a person or a place, but just there's only so much. And because there's only so

1:53.5

much, it changes the way we approach things. Now, I often talk about believing and embracing the

1:59.8

fact that there's only a finite amount of time or a finite

2:02.9

amount of you as a person. That there's only so much time you have in a day. There's only so much

2:07.9

of you, your health, your ability to connect to people. There's only so much that we have inside

2:14.7

of ourselves during a lifetime. And I say all that usually to

2:18.4

empower people to take advantage of every opportunity and to live their lives, treating themselves

2:24.8

as precious. Because when things are few, we treat them as precious. Think about, for example,
