Welcome to the Black Go Burnup podcast. Kelly here. And today we're going to talk about how to opt out of financial struggle. Yeah, we're going to really zoom in today on how to be financial well, cut cut, how to be financially well.

I think it's critically important that we as black women experience the release of struggle in all areas of our life, whether it's

romantic or familial or our families, our work, our professional life, and of course it is

in our finances. Overcoming economic burnout is no joke. It's not easy. It is something that many people are feeling. And as we

close out the year, they feel it more. This is the time when people are prone to feel pressure to

give really extravagant gifts to each other, to go into debt, to go into treat yourself mode,

even if your finances may not be in the right

space to do that. And so nothing will keep you locked in struggle than the crushing weight of debt.

I know for myself, one of the things that I struggled with, if you have not grown up super wealthy,

is how to balance money, how to find meaning in financial

stability, how to redefine that for yourself, especially if culturally financial stability

has been associated with whiteness, with maleness, with certain other demographic factors that don't necessarily

include us as black women. I know for myself, there were been times where I've made more money

and times I've made less. And my relationship with money has been an up and down struggle for

myself to feel in control, to feel like I am on top of my finances.

And while I wasn't necessarily financially reckless, I never had a good relationship with money.

I always felt guilty if I made more money, I would feel guilty. If I made less, I would feel like I was

missing out. And so it's been a journey for me to find a sweet spot or at least live closer to now

to be able to embrace the concept of financial wellness. So today I want to talk about what
