Today I want to talk to you about opting out of therapy avoidance. Yes, that’s right. It is officially time to stop avoiding therapy. Opting in to your true birthright to live a life filled with happiness, financial abundance, and healthy relationships is within your reach. Listen to me, it is totally ok to reach out for help in an effort to let go of old thoughts and baggage that no longer serves you so that you can fully achieve wellness and balance in your life. Now I understand that finding a therapist can feel difficult for many women of color, myself included, it was hard for me to find the right therapist. And I know some of you are thinking, I roll, no, I can handle this on my own.

I have podcasts, I have friends, I, you know, do TED Talks, I have self-health books, and self-health books.

And I'm here to tell you wonderful, great, all those things are amazing.

But one of the key tools, I believe, to opting out of struggle and opting into our true

birthright, which is, as I've said, many a times, beauty and joy and community and softness and all of those things is therapy. I really do think that

having a good therapist or engaging in therapy at least once in your life will go a long way

with the right therapist to heal a lot of the wounds that we all carry,

but particularly that we can carry as black women that are intergenerational,

and really push us forward into pursuing the lives that light us up and bring us joy.

Now, I understand finding a therapist is so difficult for many women of color, myself included.

It was hard for me to find a therapist.

And there's no shortage of articles that really confirm that truth.

That really we live in a world where it looks like almost 80% of therapists

are white.

Particularly when we're talking about psychologists, it's even higher.

And while we may not mind having a white therapist, what's even more troubling is some

of those therapists have no clue how to be culturally

competent or how to even be sensitive to the unique traumas of black Americans and black people
