Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout podcast, Kelly here. And today I want to talk about how to opt into soft evenings.

0:16.6

If you recall, a while back, I did an episode on opting into soft mornings. And I talked about how

0:22.0

I create routines for myself that creates a kind of gentle ease into my day. And some of those

0:29.1

routines are a lot longer and some of them were really quick. And I thought I would do the same

0:35.4

thing for the evenings. I try to have certain times

0:40.6

where I have longer opportunities to dedicate to like a routine. But then I also just want to think

0:48.0

about what are the quickest ways to create a routine for your evening that has you

0:53.3

feeling rested and ready to drift off to sleep.

0:58.9

For me, when I have more time, for example, in the mornings on Saturday tends to be what I call

and I'm one of those people who goes to the farmer's market. Whatever it is, it's done in a

1:23.7

spirit of gentleness. And I don't feel rushed and I don't feel like I have to do a thing.

1:28.5

I just tick off the things that make me feel cozy and comfortable and my nervous system regulated.

1:35.3

And that is what makes a soft morning all the way down to like hours dedicate this to.

1:40.3

I have a 10 minute app I talked about that I use that sets me up for the day. It makes me do

1:46.7

some activities, drink some water by my bed first day of the morning, things like that.

1:52.0

And so the same can be said for soft evenings. For me, when I have a ton of time that usually

1:57.6

tends to be Sunday night, I love Sundays. They're one of my favorite days

2:03.1

of the week because for me, Sunday is all about softness in many, many ways. But it's also a time

2:11.0

for me to really reset. I try not to do anything outside of my home on Sunday night. Because Sunday night is just for

2:20.2

being cozy at home and not necessarily feeling like I have to rush. Like I like to set myself up
