Welcome to the Black Girl Burnout podcast, Kelly here. And today we're going to talk about how to find gratitude in community.

This really goes along with our theme for the month, which is all about gratitude.

And I've been talking about having gratitude when things fall apart, which it feels like it was

more timely than I thought it would be, particularly since I had planned to do episodes like this

before my father passed, before some other things

in my life became more and increasingly uncertain. And now for some of us, the election may

have triggered a whole other wave of hopelessness and feeling like things can't get better.

And so this week, I want to talk about gratitude for community.

I want to talk about gratitude as a radical act of self-care and close out Friday optimistically.

So stay with me here. When I talk about having gratitude when things don't work out.

But today, let's dig into community and the need to develop gratitude for it.

When things fall apart, when things don't go the way you want them to, or when things do go well, when you have something to celebrate, having a community around you to either celebrate or get support from

is everything, absolutely everything. And so let's talk about the tools you need to develop

to have good community in your life. So first, let's define what community is, right?

Community can be friends, family, and our support networks. They're the people around us

that build us up, that create opportunities that provide emotional support, and how that looks can be a variety of ways,

right? It doesn't always have to be the way we think. One of the most powerful episodes we've

friendships and how oftentimes we put maybe all of our energy into one person.
