The Defense Department is evaluating base defenses in response to Ukraine's Operation Spider-Web,

which used commercially available drones to destroy Russian bombers far from conflict zones.

Defense Secretary P. Higseth highlighted the growing threat of affordable,

atridable drones and a concern echoed by Rand, R&D, and the Mitchell Institute reports

warning of insufficient air defense of air force bases, particularly in the

Pacific and European theaters. I would not just over there, I would actually say that is the fact

in the U.K., in the U.S. as well. It is definitely not something that we are prepared for,

which is unfortunate because,
