Welcome. Welcome to the bookcase. This is our inaugural edition. I had in mind, you know, when they launch ship, somebody breaks a bottle of champagne across the bow,

and the ship slowly sinks into the sea.

I don't know how you break a bottle of champagne across a microphone, and I hope we don't sink into anything.

But this is a two-generation, two-gender, father and daughter podcast, and I am the older generation,

the father, the male, Charlie Gibson.

And I will be your cruise director on the SS bookcase.

I will be the daughter, the younger, the female, Kate Gibson.

And I am delighted to say that on this first edition, our guest is Oprah Winfrey.

When Kate and I were discussing whom we would like to be with us on show number one, it was Kate
