This week as we celebrate Thanksgiving and have gratitude and giving on our minds,

we're excited to highlight some of the organizations that our Dota Healing Hands Foundation has partnered with.

During our annual Global Convention in September, we had the incredible chance to sit down with Jen Dyer, the Director of Development

for Operation Underground Railroad, an organization who works to rescue children from sex trafficking.

Jen, thank you for sitting down with us today.

Your organization is one that the Healing Hands Foundation has been partnered with for a few years

now.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the mission of Operation Underground Railroad?

The mission of Operation Underground Railroad is to shine a light worldwide on the global

epidemic of child sex trafficking and in so doing, bringing justice to the perpetrators

and providing aftercare for our survivors around the world.

We are currently operating in 22 countries around the globe and 23 states in the United States.

And it is a global epidemic problem. There are about 17,000 children's brought into the U.S., trafficked into the United States every year.

I think oftentimes we think that they're taken out of the United States to other places, but that's the number that we get approximately 17,000.

Worldwide, it's about a two million. The number they put out is about two million children are enslaved in some form of child trafficking.

That is definitely a big number to be up against. Can you tell us about how Operation Underground Railroad began?

What was the push or the inciting event? Yeah, it's really a fantastic story. Tim Ballard is our founder, and back in Operation Underground Railroad was founded October in 2013, excuse me, so almost six years ago to the month.

And so Tim formerly worked for the United States government under Homeland Security and read a story in a newspaper of a little boy who is from Haiti,

happened to be born in the United States because his parents were here on a fundraising mission,

actually in Utah, when he was born. So he's considered a United States citizen because he was

born here, but he is of Haitian descent, and that's where his family lives. And he had been kidnapped
