Summary

(Acts 8:7-8, 29, 39) The Holy Spirit speaks and works, and that same Holy Spirit who spoke to Philip is still speaking and working, looking for people who are ready to be led. Believers must cultivate sensitivity and openness to His promptings. Being guided by the Holy Spirit equips us to lead others to Christ. We must listen to what God has already said, staying receptive to seemingly illogical promptings, and allowing the same Spirit who led Philip to work through us today. wherever the spirit of God led him, and he preached Christ to those who needed to know.

In this study that Scott is calling the gospel Christian, he reminds us that the word gospel

means good news. It even has the word go in it, reminding us that the Christian life is meant

to advance the gospel message.

Now the passage of scripture we have been living in for the last several studies, Acts

Chapter number eight is commonly

0:54.6

referred to as the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Unique.

0:59.4

And it is called that because it is a familiar text where Philip, the evangelist,

has this individual encounter, this divine appointment with an Ethiopian man and leads him to know the Lord Jesus

1:13.4

Christ is his personal Savior. It really is a wonderful story, a spiritual encounter. But I want to say

1:21.7

to you that Acts chapter number eight is really not the story of Philip and the Ethiopian

1:26.7

unique. It is not the story of Philip and the city of Samaria. It's not the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Union.

1:30.4

It is not the story of Philip and the city of Samaria.

1:33.5

It's not the story of Philip and anyone else on earth.

1:36.5

It really is the story of Philip and the Holy Spirit.

1:40.8

Or let's put it in the proper order, the Holy Spirit and Philip.

1:48.1

You see, Philip could only guide others to God as he was guided by the Holy Spirit.

And so I'd like to back up, if I may, in our story in Acts chapter number eight and point out to you something that I overlooked for so long, and that is the repeated references to the person and work and fruit of the Holy Spirit in this

story. Now, if you back up to Acts chapter number eight, verse seven and verse eight, you'll find
