On March 23, 2018, the police department in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota,

responded to a call to perform a wellness check on a man named David Reese.

Arriving at the property, the two officers immediately noticed that not only was the main house

dark, but so was the building housing Prairie Waxworm Farm, Dave's fishing bay business.

According to the call, no one had spoken to Dave for at least two weeks. He didn't answer anyone's

calls, nor did he return any missed ones, but what he was doing was answering text messages.

Yet even those seemed strange. Dave often dictated his texts, and because of this,

his words and phrases often ran together and lacked punctuation. These new messages were more grammatically correct, and because of that,

his business partner and anyone else who spoke to Dave over the last two weeks wondered if he

was the one actually sending these texts.
