Summary

We reveal every team’s top priority for the final three days of pre-season testing in Bahrain in the latest edition of The Race F1 Podcast. Scott Mitchell-Malm and Samarth Kanal join Edd Straw to work through the 11 teams and what we need to see from them to be sure they are in the best possible place for the start of the season.

We discuss the off-track challenge for Mercedes, McLaren’s game of catch-up and Ferrari’s need to build on promising signs. The impressive start made by the Red Bull Powertrains engine, and how Racing Bulls appears to be struggling to make the most of it is also tackled, along with the form of fellow newcomer Audi. And the struggles of Aston Martin are again in the spotlight.

The race is on and heading into the final three days of preseason running before the Australian

0:17.0

Grand Prix, there's still a lot of work to be done.

0:19.6

So what is every team's priority

0:21.4

for this week and who is most up against it? I'm Ed Strawn joining me to set the scene for the

0:26.4

second Bahrain test, our Scott Mitchell Malm and Samarth Canal. Well, we've got a very simple

0:33.5

concept today. We've got 11 teams now. We're going to run through each of them with our

0:38.1

top priority for them to work on in the final test. Of course, the reality is they'll all be working

1:14.0

everything's designed around the power unit, everything's sort of done in-house la Red Bull or

1:18.8

Ferrari or very, very close, like for example, Mercedes, Brackley and Britsworth. But because

1:24.0

the energy recovery and deployment demands are everything for this formula, the

1:30.2

teams, the works teams will have had sight of everything at the earliest possible opportunity.

1:35.6

They'll be so, it'll be so embedded in everything they know about the 2026 cars and engines.

1:42.3

And you're seeing that now that we've got the cars on track in testing.

1:46.0

The Mercedes just looks more refined than the McLaren does.

1:49.2

It's quite obvious watching the McLaren track side that it's not quite as clean in terms of

1:56.2

not necessarily power delivery, because obviously it's not like they're running drastically
