Hello heroes, this is James Damato and I used to be the host of One Shot.

This is a wild recording to make and I have just been on a really wild journey,

but we have finally selected the new host for the one-shot

podcast. There were so many incredible people who auditioned for this role.

And while I am definitely going to tell you who our new host is during this announcement,

I wanted to take some time to celebrate everyone who came out for the role.

And I figured the best way to do that was baked into the audition itself.

One of the first things that we considered for each candidate

were audio samples.

I wanted two very short clips from each candidate.

One of them telling me about their favorite role-playing game, and another of them telling me why they love role playing in general.

This was a stressful and nerve-wracking process, also kind of heartbreaking, because as much as I know it is definitely

time to move on, I am still moving on from something that is extremely close to my heart. But despite all of that difficulty, one of the things that made

this process not just easier, but joyful, was hearing the passion of the people who came out for the role.

Because you've just spent the last several weeks with these candidates,

I wanted to give you some time to hear what I heard,

to hear the thing that showed me initially

that these people have what it takes to take care of this show.
