The weather forecast for Labor Day weekend looked good.

Alex Ziff's birthday falls on Labor Day, so he thought a great way to celebrate would be to head with his buddy up to Mammoth Pool Reservoir in the Sierra National Forest.

I've gone there as a little kid. I've been going there since I was two or three years old.

It's about a five and a half hour drive from Santa Monica where Alec lives up to the lake.

You go through Bakersfield and then on through Fresno.

I went with my friend Nick Myers.

He lives in Bakersfield, so I had picked him up on the way over to the lake on Friday night.

The drive is on freeways up until Fresno.
