I have my AA degree in human services with a specialty in drug and alcohol counseling.

We're in Echo Park.

We're around Echo Park Lake on the edges of it and we're watching all these ducks and some people would say murky water I just

think it's beautiful and all this nature you know and having all this wildlife

around us. Freddie and producer Carla Green are in Los Angeles sitting at the park watching the ducks and talking.

They chose this spot so they could stay close to Freddie's tent.

He doesn't like to be too far away from the tent unless he can find someone to watch over it for him.

We're more or less about a block and a half away at the most and the most.

Freddie's tent sits right at the entrance to the Sunset Boulevard overpass on the narrow sidewalk beside Glendale Boulevard, a busy, noisy six lane street.

It's about a block away from the apartment he shared with his partner, Maria.

Echo Park is only a block and a half in the other direction.

Even though the park is close by, Freddie doesn't come here very often.

Not as often as I should because of emotional feelings.

As when Maria and I used to like to come and walk sometimes when the sun was setting

just to come and feed the ducks.

Maria even named one of them Snowy.

He's an all white duck.

But that's the reason I really don't come as often as

maybe I should to remember her respect her.

It's just hard.
