At least 290 people have died in the Air India plane crash.

That's according to Reuters who cited local officials and includes the passengers and crew

on board and people who were inside the BJ Medical College and Hospital hostel when

the plane crashed into it.

At least one passenger, though, has survived.

The Hindustan Times named the man as British National Vishwash Kumar Ramesh and reported

speaking to him in hospital.

The 787 Dreamliner plane was flying to London Gatwick Airport from Emdebud, and the aircraft

signal was lost less than a

minute after takeoff at an altitude of 625 feet. That's according to Aviation Tracker, Flight

Radar 24. This is the first major incident involving the 787 Dreamliner since the aircraft

was first introduced in 2011, according to Boeing data. The owners of Air India, Tata Group, have said in a post on X that they will offer over

$100,000 to the families of each person who lost their life.
