has stood up for civil rights and civil liberties, and then when he stood up for the constitutional

rights of Donald Trump, former president Donald Trump, somehow he began to lose some

of his hero status in the eyes of at least some who don't understand the role of lawyers

and constitutional lawyers.

David Shone transformed the South in many ways.

He was a civil rights lawyer during the golden age of civil rights and civil liberties and

his work was recognized by the American Bar Association, awarding him his pro bono

Pagico Award for his great work in the South.

He's also been a very successful criminal defense lawyer and generally a do gooder and the

kind of person who would get awards and be invited by groups regardless of politics.

I have no idea what David's politics are.

I couldn't care less, but when he was asked to stand up for the Constitution and

to defend the rights of Mr. Donald Trump, citizen Donald Trump, not to be tried after

he left office for speeches that were covered by the First Amendment, he accepted that role,
