Summary

Carey Murdock sits down in studio with Toby Rowland, the play-by-play voice of the Sooners, for an hour long podcast talking about a bevy of subjects. Rowland talks about the politics of local radio and his former radio partnership with Carey. We also talk about the transition Toby made when he gave up his TV job at KWTV to take over media duties at the University of Oklahoma. Rowland talks about his relationship with Bob Stoops and what it's been like to do his coach's show every week during the season. We also diagnose Bob's relationship with the media over the years. Toby also talks about his relationship with OU Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione and talks about why he's always in the broadcast booth during games. Rowland also chronicles the time Carey made him destroy a table in the middle of a show out of anger. Rowland also talks about his biggest professional disappointment when his radio station blocked him from taking over as the sideline reporter for the Oklahoma City Thunder. which it is kind of a fascinating subject maybe for us maybe not so much for the

1:05.2

relationships with him and how they've changed over the years and how Bob Stoops has

1:08.5

changed over the years and I really wanted to see if Toby would talk about a part of his life where he was given the job as the Oklahoma City Thunder

1:19.2

Sideline reporter, kind of had that ripped away from him by a place that we worked for.

1:25.0

It was really interesting getting to hear his take on that and hear him.

1:29.0

I really appreciate him kind of opening up a little bit and talking about that.

professionally.
