0:10.8

Happy New Year's Eve, which if you've been listening to start here for a while, you know,

0:15.4

is one of our favorite shows of the year. All this week, we've been hearing from ABC News

0:19.5

correspondents looking back on the biggest stories of the year. Looking forward to what they're been hearing from ABC News correspondence looking back on the

0:21.1

biggest stories of the year. Looking forward to what they're expecting next year, well, today we're

0:25.3

going to hear about the lesser-known stories of 2025, the unsung heroes of the news cycle that

0:31.6

keep us all going when everything else is depressing. That's right. Here on the final day of the year,

0:36.2

we're taking a look at our favorite one last things. And to do it, forget the correspondence you hear most of the time. Forget about Brad. We're done with that guy. No, the people who will be taking over the show today are our fearless producers, the team that makes start hear what it is. That's right. They have voices. So, let's hear from their one by one. In fact, Kelly Torres, our supervising producer, hello. Hey, happy holidays. Thank you. Jen Newman, our producer who works on every show, stays up way too late. How's it going? Good. Thank you for having it. I'm so glad you could be here as if it wasn't like an assignment that we all decided to put on ourselves. Aaron Ferrer, what's going on? I'm just happy to be here, honestly. Oh, my man. And Anthony Ali, you're actually overseeing the whole production today. You are producing the producers. What's that like? They're a bunch of divas, but it's been great. And Emily Schutz, our newest edition this year, a new producer. Welcome.

1:27.9

Hi.

1:28.7

I wanted to ask Emily, you had heard the show before you started working on it, right?

1:31.7

So I guess what surprised you when you started attending these pitch meetings this year?

1:36.4

Like, how is the sausage made in your eyes?

1:38.8

Well, I think, like, usually we all can kind of agree pretty quickly on what the stories are going to be. But the one last

1:46.6

thing is sometimes harder. But another thing that surprised me is that I was able to sometimes

1:51.1

find one last things that you guys hadn't heard of. And I think you all are like so well read in.

1:57.1

So it's hard to like surprise you guys and be like oh here's something that you didn't already know

2:02.7

but you did like that's what's fun i think is like we have like a pretty diverse amount of

2:06.6

interests where like we generally do all have different pitches going on brad loves any pitch

2:12.2

that's about a holiday or something that reoccur that's not right you're being sarcastic because you know that anytime somebody's like, it's the 39th anniversary of so and so. I'm very bored by that. All right. Well, we really did have some great ones here. And so Anthony and I asked everyone to share their favorite one last thing of the whole year. Sometimes these are segments that you guys personally produced. Other times they're just ones that you guys really enjoyed listening to as listeners.

2:35.7

So let's get into it right now.

2:37.1

And in fact, I want to start with Aaron Ferrer.

2:40.0
