Well, hello there. My name is Morgan Harper-Nichols. I'm an artist and a writer, and this is a space where I share words that I hope can make a little room for you to slow down and take a few deep breaths as you prepare for whatever lies ahead. Thanks for being here today. And now on to today's episode.

The other day I was having a conversation with my husband and business partner about our least favorite parts of the jobs that we do. And he shared with me that working on art

files and worrying about dimensions and if the art was

cropped in the right way was one of his least favorite things to do.

And it dawned on me in that moment when he was sharing that, that that's actually one of my

favorite things.

I love playing with art files, the art files that I create and that my team makes for different

things and making sure everything's aligned properly. It's kind of therapeutic for me.

And what I recognized was, isn't it interesting how the very thing that might be draining for

us is actually energizing for someone else. And I think this is so important

to remember about asking for help, especially for those of us who have a hard time asking for help.

Sometimes we don't want to ask someone to help because we don't want to put a burden on them.

We may consider a task to be incredibly draining, time consuming, stressful, overwhelming. So why would we

want to put that on someone else? Why would we want to invite someone else into the chaos, the unorganization, or whatever it

is?

But I think one thing that's so easy to forget is just how different we all are.

Some of the very things that we get excited about that we look forward to somebody else might be completely dreading.

And there are so many areas of life where this applies, where on one hand, you have people

who are silently completing tasks because they have to, but yet just for whatever reason, they're not able to do

it in the best way that they can because it just requires so much energy. Meanwhile, there's someone

else where that task may come more naturally to them. And I think that the diversity of our
