Chapter 21

Kay opened her eyes and saw the face of Gaz

sleeping beside her.

She smiled and lay still, enjoying the moment, letting it sink in through

the residual effect of last night's various intoxicants that lay over her senses like a morning mist.

She wanted to remember it later on.

When she was at work drowning in boredom and drudgery. She felt an ache inside as she looked at him.

His face all stubbornly and slept on, his breathing slow and slightly hissy through his nose.

She kissed him gently on his forehead.

He stirred a little but didn't awaken.

She smiled and wondered what the time was. She rolled over onto her

other side and looked over Jimmy's sleeping face at the bedside clock. It read 820.

Shit. 820!

They've done it again!

They were supposed to set the alarm for 745! She cursed herself for leaving the task to them. Oh sure, maybe they forgot. Then

again, maybe they did it on purpose to avoid being woken up early.

She clambered unceremoniously over Gaz's body.

Oh, what?

Gaz writhed into consciousness beneath her.
