0:13.9	All the noise surrounding lockdown has been drowned out by Joe Biden and Donald Trump's battle over the presidency.
0:19.2	Many observers anticipated conflict and legal challenges, but the polls were off again.
0:23.6	A blue wave failed to materialize and there was no Biden landslide.
0:27.6	Now, the whole thing is a big mess.
0:29.6	Wolfgang, what do the U.S. elections mean for Europe?
0:32.6	The Europeans were completely caught off guard by this.
0:36.6	They had only prepared for one scenario, which was that of a Biden landslide and of the Democrats taking the Senate in particular.
0:44.4	That didn't happen. Both didn't happen.
0:47.3	The Germans weren't particularly very upset about this vote.
0:50.7	They had not only hoped for Biden as president, which, you know, they might still
0:55.1	get that. That might still happen. But they wanted or they were hoping for a complete repudiation
1:01.8	of Trump, and that didn't happen. It's very clear that Trumpism or whatever you want to call it
1:07.0	is a leading force in American politics right now. It might return in the in the 2024 election.
1:13.3	The Republicans will, you know, the republicans will not easily get rid of it. Who knows Trump
1:19.3	himself might return in 2024, one of his, you know, acolytes, children or whoever. So Trumpism
1:25.5	is very much there to stay. and the Germans will have to start
1:28.9	doing something that they had tried to avoid doing, which is to consider the notion of European
