Summary

If you're a regular listener, you know that I'm not a huge fane of the FIRE movement. That said, I'm a big believer in the "FI" part of it, financial independence, especially when it comes to those just starting out. Having options is a good thing!

Welcome to the Jill on Money podcast. It is Wednesday, December 16th, and just another day ticking away on your to-do list, right? You've probably said to yourself, well, what am I going to do to get these presents ready? What am I going to do to have my holiday celebration with,

0:23.1

you know, two to four people? And what am I going to do to help me reach my financial goals?

0:28.8

Oh, wait, that third thing? That I can actually help you with. If you have a financial question,

0:34.1

investment, tax, education, even career, send us an email. Ask Jill at

0:40.0

Jillonmoney.com. Ask Jill at Jillonmoney.com. And if you would like to join us on the

0:46.7

program, let us know that is what Kelly did. Kelly is on the line from North Carolina.

1:05.9

1:10.3

get the answers I

1:11.0

needed was just to go straight to the source. A little background on myself, I am 27 going on 50,

1:16.9

and I say that kind of jokingly because my financial goal is to retire by age 50. By that point,

1:22.4

I want to work because I want to, not because I have to. There's probably easier said than done

1:27.0

because I don't have a

1:27.6

wife and kids in the picture right now, but wanted to get a report card from you pretty much to see

1:32.6

where I am as far as being on track and what else I can do to make that process for reality.

1:38.5

Okay, great. So first of all, are you working right now? Yes. So background on myself, I am in sales right now in a tech role.

1:47.4

So I'm in the ballpark of about $100,000 annually.

1:51.0

No debt right now.

1:52.2

I have the exception of a primary mortgage and two investment properties.

1:57.2

So I'm working to scale the real estate side to get at least one or two properties a year, eventually
