| 0:39.6 | of Nord Stream. And they didn't like it. There was never an enthusiasm for if Russian-German |
| 0:47.1 | deal on gas, especially in view of, you know, a developing European energy policy. |
| 0:52.5 | But France kind of reluctantly went along with it. |
| 0:55.5 | The European Commission last year decided on a regulation that was approved by the council. |
| 1:01.1 | That regulation was, it tightened European control over the North Stream project, but |
| 1:07.7 | it was still a lenient regulation. |
| 1:10.5 | It made North Stream to, you know, it kept it viable. |
| 1:14.7 | And the French supported that position. Now they have shifted the position against it. |
| 1:20.6 | Macro has said that the arrest of Navalny and obviously the poisoning of Navalny and subsequent arrest have changed the situation. |
| 1:29.3 | And he wants to use Nord Stream 2 as a sanction mechanism. |
| 1:33.9 | And the Germans take the view that these two should be strictly separated. |
| 1:37.4 | I mean, separated means is to diplomatic speak for, you know, leave Navalny in prison and we'll go ahead with a pipeline. |
| 1:46.7 | You know, this is a euphemism as separation. |
