It's very difficult for me to be speaking to you about Michael Brooks in the past tense,

because it's very difficult to accept that Michael is gone.

He was so present, he was so prolific, I mean, he was putting out videos up until this week, but

I want to try and convey, I guess, what I feel like we've lost by losing Michael so suddenly

and at such a young age.

You'll probably hear from, if you see people on Twitter or you see tributes to Michael by people who knew him, you'll realize that everyone who knew him personally loved him.

He was just a fun, nice guy and very smart.

Everyone, people have, Megan Day has just written a beautiful tribute in Jacobin

where she talks about, you know, how supportive Michael was and how he got Cornel West to

praise her writing to make her feel good.

And I mean, he was just, I mean, my limited encounters with him, I went on his show a few times.

My limited encounters was that he was just a very real swell guy.

But the thing that made Michael so unique and that is why we've lost. So I mean, what I want to convey is how

much we've lost by losing Michael. If you didn't know Michael's work, so he was the host of

the Michael Brooks show. He often appeared on Sam Cedar's show, and Michael Brooks show is

kind of a spinoff of that.

He was also the author of a great book on the intellectual dark web called Against the Web,

which everyone should pick up.

And I think if I'm trying to convey, look, what was special and unique

and why people are so devastated by losing Michael

Brooks. It's the fact that he was, he had all of those things that I think the, that left media

really, really needs. And this is what he had such potential and he just put together this new show
